Another area of creativity I really enjoy working with is the famous and world class Queensland Boulder Opal.
Koroit opal is very much a favorite of mine...... with the host boulder and its myriad of colored patterns and brightly colored Gem Matrix opal set within those patterns - a real delight to create with!
Within these patterns and gem opal, I enjoy inlaying solid Gem Crystal opal. The gem opal inlay enhances and adds a new dimension of color and fire to the beauty of the boulder opal.
This inlaying procedure is precise with the opal being "locked" in from behind the boulder, guaranteeing a permanent fixture of opal to boulder.
A finely powdered "boulder dust", created from the inlaying procedure, is added to my very special - and incredibly strong - bonding compound formula, giving a more blended and natural look of gem opal inlay into boulder opal.
