The face of this opal has been perfectly cut & mirror polished & has a drilled hole of 1.5mm diameter at the top of the stone. The piece of black opal itself weighs 2 carats with a body thickness of 1.7mm - which prompted me to create a fuller bodied bead by bonding this gem black opal to a natural black opal basestone from the same opal mine, thereby having perfectly matching base tones and body.
